Requiem For A Giant
CLBA JOURNAL 2000-05

“Jimagua”
On the 5th day of August 1995,
at ten p.m. Oriate Lamberto Rodriguez Sama Ogun to eye passed away. Not only
did we lose the Teacher by excellence of all ceremonies and rituals, He was
also the Teacher of modesty, disinterest, and humanism.
Those that knew him have at this moment, a moment of sadness, the nostalgia of a great loss, the impeccable friend, the support in times of difficulties. Someone screamed when Bolivar died, “the sun of the Americas has darkened. ” Now I scream – the greatest Oriate of yesterday, today, and forever has died!
Blessed are his godmother Manuela Oshosi (Odede Ni Miwa); Aurora Lamar (Obatola); Josefina Aguirre (Oshun Guere); Carmen Miro (Igbin Bi); Josefina Beltran (Oloshun De ). Blessed are Aberlardo Beque (Eni Oshun); Liberato Valdes (Igbin Leti); Octavio Sama (Oba Di Meji); Tomas Romero (Igbin Leti). They have the eternal joy to have at their side a life-time friend.
Those of us that lost him can only say---blessed is the earth, it is eating well. The joy of Orun, the heavens, is the sadness of Aye, the earth. We can only say--- Ogun To Eye, bawe mabawe, remember us and do not forget us!
